Shri B D Tatti(A)Memorial Charitable Trust Laxmeshwar

We work for the upliftment & development of the needy and underprivileged disabilities in various Districts of Karnataka.

Shri B D Tatti (Annavaru) Memorial Charitable Trust established in 1994, works for the welfare and development of persons with disabilities in Karnataka. Over the years, the Trust rapidly expanded its work and has reached persons with disabilities, including children, youth and adults in 11 Districts of Karnataka till date. Sushravya Pre-primary School for Oral Deaf Education (Hearing Impaired)

It is a residential school like no other. For those who study and stay here are not just children with speech and hearing impairment but also their mothers. Yes, each day brings with it a new reason for the mother and child to cheer about, as they learn the oral deaf education and speech therapy. A mother says,” Now, I understand when a son is able to tell me if he is having stomach pain”. They stay till the child is ready to mainstream in regular primary school.

Residential School for Children with Hearing Impairment

The B D Tatti Residential School for Children with Hearing Impairment, the first Programme of Shri. B D Tatti (A) Memorial Charitable Trust began in a rented space with just ten children. Now about 200 children across North Karnataka are studying from 1st Standard to the 10th Standard in a spacious and well-designed school.

Vocational Training for Youths with Disability Opportunities for Continued Education and Vocational Training for Hearing Impaired and other Disabilities

Shri. B D Tatti (A) Memorial Charitable Trust is motivating persons, in particular the youth, to be self-reliant. It is providing educational opportunities wherever relevant, facilitates linkages with vocational training Programme. Many youth have benefitted from courses such as computer operations, spoken English and technical courses. The youth and adults also get the much needed career guidance, counselling support and referrals for placement. As their own exposure and networking is very limited, these disabilities spread across 24 Gram Panchayats in Shirahatti Taluka have benefitted. The organization has been successful in going beyond institution based services, and initiating an integrated framework by engaging stakeholders and care givers. It has organized training programmes for Village Resource Workers and Panchayat staff members.

Community Based Rehabilitation Programme

In order to reach out to a larger segment of people with disabilities, Shri. B D Tatti (A) Memorial Charitable Trust initiated community based services. It worked with different stakeholders to identify children, youth and adult with different disabilities, assess their need and then facilitate various opportunities to meet their requirements. During this process, it built the capacities of stakeholders, especially the Anganwadi workers and school teachers, to identify children with disabilities. Thus, early identification and interventions have helped many children with disabilities to lead an improved quality of life. The education Programme of CBR focuses on ensuring primary and secondary education for all children in its working areas through community programmes.

Adult Deaf Education

This is bridge course for hearing impaired students who pass/fail in SSLC results. They are trained for about one year in basic Kannada, English grammar, sign language, mathematics, and craft skills, the hearing impaired adults. Subsequently, an assessment camp is conducted for those attended for the bridge course and guided to join a suitable technical course.

Karnataka Rajyotsava


On November 1st 2021 we celebrated Karnataka Rajyotsava in Our School. Mr. K A Baliger Retired Head master our chief guest said that we all have to preserve and cultivate the language of kannada. It is the responsibility of teachers to save the culture and practices of our country for generation to come. The Honorary Secretary Mr. Somanath Mahajanashettar of the institute presided over the program and said that the new policy will enable them to make technology based education accessible to their mother tongue a number of changes in the learning of particular school children.


From Home to Residential School


10 years old Dayanand Talawar lives with his mother, father,two brothers and sister. He was borin in Soratur which is rural side of North karanataka. From birth he was identified as hearing impairment.Parents showed him to many hospital and it did not helped the child as he was profound loss. He communicates usually gestures and sign language. His father came to know about Shri B D Tatti(A)memorial Charitable Trust Laxmeshwar through our BDT staff and visited the residential school for hearing impairment seek guidance for his condition. Over there his father was guided for welfare services such as disability pension and education and residential facilities. With lot of efforts in sign language intervention he is now been expert in sign language and the studies, there is indeed improvement in the academic and social behavior aspect of Dayanand and he is champion in mallakamba sport.


Primary Intervention


On 12th october 2021, Abhishek P Karajagi, 6-year-old was born at Laxmeshwar District Gadag, Karnataka. The child enrolled in BDT at the age of 4 years with the diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay. He resides in a household of 6 and her father earns his living working as a coolie in the local area. He was completely dependent on others for all his needs. It was observed that he had no social skills, self-care, attention and interest and was not able to walk independently as he used to crawl. After primary intervention, his activities have developed and has started walking independently and got feeding, toileting, and started socializing with others. Now, his parents are putting efforts to improve his communication skills. His parents are happy with his developmental stages and thanks to the Aadhar Outreach Program, a capacity building program for staff on Primary Intervention( a joint collaboration of Biswa Gouri Charitable Trustand IDFC FIRST Bank .
